Catwalk chic and creativity will take centre stage when Enliven Southland hosts its first ever avant-garde wearable arts show this month. (October)
Residents and staff from all four Enliven Southland care homes are busy turning everyday items into extraordinary outfits ready to parade on the catwalk in the Wearable Arts Show Enliven Style.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to work with our residents, our villages and staff across our organisation to host a fun event which encourages self-expression, laughter and creativity,” Enliven Southland director Carol Riddle said.
“Events like this bring us all together to celebrate our people and it makes our facilities not just a place of care but a place of community, creativity and joy.”
Enliven lifestyle team leader Rachel Cade said they are thrilled to have Presbyterian Support Southland board member Elizabeth Roy, Invercargill City councillor Steven Broad and ILT board member Angela Newell on the judging panel. They will select winners across several categories, including wearability, construction, creativity, and use of recycled/upcycled materials.
“By promoting the creative use of recycled materials, the show also reflects our organisation’s commitment to sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of our activities.”
With the strong support already being shown for the event, the wearable arts show is sure to become an annual fixture in the Enliven Southland calendar.
