Peacehaven redevelopment has begun

Construction of the Peacehaven Retirement Village redevelopment project has begun.

All conditions have been met, and work started on site on Monday, June 23.

We’re very excited to be at this point, with design completed, all necessary approvals sorted, and funding confirmed,” Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) chief executive Matt Russell said.

“We’re proud of our long history of aged care provision in Southland and our Peacehaven Village redevelopment reaffirms our continued commitment to the region’s retirees.

“Given the scale and staged approach of the development over the coming years, the construction process also provides us an opportunity to utilise a significant number of local contractors and suppliers and positively impact the local economy.”

The project involves constructing 38 stylish and modern units and a residents’ lodge over multiple stages. Stage 1a, which is expected to take 18 months to complete, will involve building 13 units, a mix of standalone and duplex options, and a show home.  The entire project is expected to take up to five years to complete.

The show home is expected to be finished by the end of the year ready for viewings, with registrations of interest now open for the new homes.

Nick Hamlin of Maxis Projects had been enlisted to oversee the redevelopment project.

“We have a very experienced design and construction team led by Nick supporting us through the redevelopment, Mr Russell said.

“Nick has worked alongside our organisation for the past 25 years and most recently led the design and construction of the Hawthorndale Care Village.”

A celebration was held on Monday, June 23 ahead of work commencing.
