Presbyterian Support Southland and Enliven Southland leaders were pleased to have the opportunity to discuss issues facing the aged care sector in New Zealand when they hosted Minister for Seniors Casey Costello last week. (Thursday, March 20)
Minister Costello spent an hour visiting Resthaven Village care home in Gore where she had a tour of the facility and heard any concerns or discussion points raised by senior leaders and managers.
“We appreciate Minister Costello taking the opportunity to meet with us, and her commitment to seeking feedback from aged care providers, in particular, from facilities in smaller regions, where access to specialist services can be limited,” Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) chief executive Matt Russell said.
“We hope to continue to be engaged moving forward as the sector looks to collaborative solutions ensuring future service provision is established in response to an ageing population and increasing demand.
“We look forward to seeing some collaborative solutions that address areas of duplication and increasing complexity and demand,” he said.
The visit was attended by Minister Costello, Sharon Adler of Te Whatu Ora, PSS chief executive Matt Russell, Enliven Southland director Carol Riddle and Resthaven Village care home manager Robyn Byron.
