Celebrating service

Peter Shepard, a 94 year old Ngāi Tahu resident at Vickery Court, shares his whakapapa and his childhood growing up in Motupōhue (Bluff), and his experiences of serving in the Korean War.
Peter's connects his ancestry back to the Spencer Whānau who are one of the mana wahine who married Pākehā men. This joined two cultures and acknowledged the desire for kotahitanga. This is represented in carvings at the wharerau at Te Rau Aroha Marae.
This ANZAC we acknowledge and celebrate those, including many who are Enliven residents, who served our country.
To commemorate ANZAC Day, we are holding special services in each of our care homes to which family and friends of residents are invited to attend.
Lest we forget.
