Steve Pagan - gardener

Cultivating vibrant, lush and beautiful gardens and grounds for residents, staff and visitors to enjoy gives senior gardener Steve Pagan a lot of pride and satisfaction.

Steve and his team look after the gardens and grounds of Enliven’s four care homes, Resthaven Village, Peacehaven Village, Vickery Court and Walmsley House.

They also tend to the gardens around the residential cottages and townhouses for residents who are no longer able to do them themselves.

Steve joined the Enliven team about three years ago.

He had previously worked for Phoenix Services doing gardening and maintenance work, but Steve said he took the job at Enliven because he had wanted to focus solely on gardening.

“I definitely enjoy it.”

The care homes’ gardens were fairly tired when he first started in the role and he was proud of the work he and his team had done to update the gardens and create new spaces, he said.

“We are passionate about having the gardens looking nice, and it’s great when people coming into the care homes comment on how good they look.”

Steve said Enliven was a good organisation to work for.

“Management let me have freedom and independence in the job and they are open to the team’s ideas for how to improve things.”
