Social Work

Social workers help families build on their strengths and support them to achieve their goals.

We provide support in the areas of parenting, strategies and support to manage children’s behaviour, advocacy and advice for families and other support for issues families may be facing.

Social work support can be provided to any family or situation where a child or young person is being cared for, up the age of 17 or older with agreement of management under certain circumstances.

Social workers may work with individual members of the family including the children or young people and may work with the family as a whole - whatever is in their best interests.

The Social Work Support Service covers the wider Southland area.
