Abundant Artistic Talent at Peacehaven Village

Artistic flair is flourishing within Peacehaven Village and now, the public will get to view the talent of both staff and residents.

From painting and photography to embroidery and crafts, the artwork will be on display at the South Alive Community Artspace in the South City Mall from 14 to 21 September.

It has all stemmed from a monthly art challenge, designed by Peacehaven staff.

Each month staff would pick a famous artist and, in that person’s style, paint a modern theme such as a painting of a phone in the style of Vincent van Gogh.

Peacehaven Village Activities Coordinator Susan Slaughter said the challenge brought many talented artists out of the woodwork.

The opportunity to exhibit work through South Alive was an exciting prospect, she said, and three residents who were also artists had contributed work to display as well.

“The exhibition will be a mix of staff’s own work, art created through our monthly challenge, and the artwork of three Peacehaven residents and artists,” Mrs Slaughter explained.

A wide range of staff will be represented through the exhibition, from those working within maintenance, to reception, to care work and management.

Gallery hours: Monday – Saturday 10 – 4pm, except Sunday.
