Close to 90 Enliven residents and staff enjoyed a recent picnic and chance to get together.

Close to 90 residents and staff from Enliven homes came together at Walmsley House on Friday (25 February), for an afternoon of games, fun and friendship.

From live music to gumboot throwing and a sunhat competition, the afternoon had it all, and residents from Resthaven Village (Gore), Walmsley House, Peacehaven Village including townhouse and cottage residents as well as those from Iona, and Vickery Court, got into the spirit of it well.

Organised by Walmsley House Activities Co-ordinator Jo Botting, the afternoon proved a hit.

“We’ve had such positive feedback, it’s been wonderful.”
“The games were definitely a highlight; we had gumboot throwing, bean bag tossing, egg and spoon races with little balls instead of eggs, and tug-of-war, and there was plenty of chatter and laughs.”

Throughout the afternoon residents also enjoyed a welcome from the Town Crier Lynley McKerrow, a waiata from Walmsley House residents, live music from Enliven Music Therapist Jamie Macdonald and Cheree Tawhara.

Residents had also crafted sunhats for a competition, which was won by Resthaven, with second place going to Vickery Court and third to Iona.
