Twenty-five years of Frankton Court has been celebrated, with residents past and present enjoying a special lunch to mark the occasion.
When Frankton Court was built 25 years ago, it was done so to meet a need and provide quality accommodation in a safe and friendly environment.
Quarter of a century later and that need is still evident, with occupancy at the retirement village continuing to remain high.
Frankton Court Coordinator Elaine Wells said, while the retirement living environment in Wakatipu was changing, Frankton Court remained a popular choice for a number of reasons.
“It’s a wonderful location in such close proximity to everything, there’s a fantastic view of the lake and the mountains, and it’s an environment where people really do look out for each other,” she said.
“It’s independent living within a supportive community.”
Residents couldn’t agree more.
Ruth Mudge says she “couldn’t wish for a better place to be”.
“I can see the mountains … I lived by the lake for so long and I love it here… everybody is very friendly and kind, but they don’t encroach on each other’s space… we look after each other if needed.”
Residents joined Enliven staff for a celebratory lunch at Millbrook to mark the 25 years, including the first Frankton Court resident, Agnes Wilson, and Pat Wilson, the longest current resident.
Frankton Court has 18 independent cottages and is part of Enliven Southland.
