Staff, residents and their families got right into the Christmas spirit with Gore’s Resthaven Village transformed into a Winter Wonderland for the month of June.
The month of June was a truly festive one at Resthaven Village, with decorations adorning the living areas, lights up throughout the building and one area decorated as a complete winter wonderland.
Residents and their families also enjoyed a mid-winter Christmas meal, complete with all of the trimmings.
Organised visits were also co-ordinated by eight other rest homes, including Enliven’s Invercargill-based homes, Peacehaven Village, Vickery Court and Walmsley House. Visiting residents enjoyed a look at the decorations and a mulled wine with Resthaven residents and it gave many the chance to catch up with friends they hadn’t seen in years.
Resthaven Village Activities Co-ordinator Trish Dynes said the whole month was “absolutely brilliant”.
“It was just wonderful - the residents and visitors loved it,” she said.
“It was a lot of work by a lot of people, but it was so rewarding and worth every bit of effort. The meal, in particular, was brilliant and it was lovely to have so many of the residents’ families join us.”
