Wrapping support around residents in their final days and their grieving families is an important part of Enliven's ethos of caring for its people.
With this in mind, Enliven has refurbished its dedicated whānau/family rooms within its care homes, making them fit-for-purpose, peaceful and private spaces for families to spend quality time with their loved ones, especially those nearing the end of their life.
The purchase of new furniture for the rooms was made possible thanks to $8,000 in funding from the Stewart Family Charitable Trust, administered by Perpetual Guardian.
An official opening ceremony was held last week at Vickery Court (May 9). Joe Wakefield, representing mana whenua, blessed the room.
Whānau rooms in Peacehaven Village and Resthaven Village have also been refurbished.
