Registered Diversional Therapist - Peacehaven Village

Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) is a Charitable Trust and is the largest social service and aged care provider in Southland.

PSS encompasses two service arms – Enliven, which offers services for the older generation including residential aged care, retirement living options and support while living at home, and Family Works, which offers a range of social services.

We work to enable a positive and lasting change for everyone in our community and offer support services to people regardless of their beliefs, ethnicity or background.

Peacehaven Village is located on Tweed Street in Invercargill and provides a range of care options for the elderly in our community from self-contained units to hospital care.

The Role:

We have a permanent Registered Diversional Therapist position available (32.5 hours per week) for an enthusiastic team player to support our residents at Peacehaven Village based in Invercargill.  

The focus of the role is the planning and implementing of ongoing activities for group and individual needs that are meaningful, realistic and maintain/increase our residents’ participation and quality of life.

Key responsibilities:

  • Resident support plans completed within two weeks of admission and reviewed regularly (every six months minimum)
  • Effective communication with colleagues, volunteers, residents, and their families/whanau so everyone knows in advance the activities available
  • Ensuring activities are completed within budget
  • Ensuring resources and equipment are maintained and accessible to staff

What you will need to be successful:

  • National Certificate in Care of the Older Person or Certificate in Diversional Therapy
  • Previous experience working with elderly clients
  • Current full drivers licence and comfortable driving a van
  • Previous medication experience/training an advantage
  • Strong team player who thrives on working collaboratively
