SupportLink

SupportLink is a free service matching trained volunteers with older people living in their own home who may need some additional support to remain independent.

We offer different types of assistance depending on an individual’s needs and can assist with;

  • regular friendship or companionship
  • access to social activities
  • access to coffee clubs with people of a similar age
  • supporting older people while spouses or carers take time out

For many older people SupportLink makes the difference between coping with day-to-day living at home and having to move into a residential care home.

Our volunteers range in age and come from all walks of life. They are dedicated individuals who are there to offer support, and recognise by giving a little of their time they can provide a worthwhile experience.

The service is run in three locations across Southland - Invercargill, Gore and Whakatipu.

One part of the service proving popular is our monthly coffee groups. These are held in each location. Coffee groups are a great chance to meet like-minded people, and the venues tend to vary each month, making for interesting outings.

Volunteers

We often require more volunteers to help with this service. We ensure you are adequately trained and receive ongoing support. If you are able and willing to be involved in either; Invercargill, Gore or Whakatipu, please contact the appropriate person listed.
