SupportLink

SupportLink is a free service that matches trained volunteers with older people living in their own home who are experiencing challenges that make living on their own more difficult.

We offer different types of assistance depending on an individual’s needs and can assist with;

  • Transport to appointments
  • Help with shopping or groceries
  • Regular friendship or companionship
  • Access to social activities
  • Access to coffee clubs with people of a similar age
  • Supporting older people while spouses or carers take time out

For many older people SupportLink makes the difference between coping with day-to-day living at home and having to move into a residential care home.

Our volunteers range in age and come from all walks of life. They are dedicated individuals who are there to offer support, and recognise that by giving a little of their time they can provide a worthwhile experience.

The service is run in three locations across Southland - Invercargill, Gore and Wakatipu.

One part of the service that is proving popular us our monthly Coffee groups. These are held in each location. Coffee groups are a great chance to meet like minded people and the venues tend to vary each month, making for interesting outings.
