A new electronic file management system is set to provide huge efficiencies within Enliven when it launches in May.
The new system means all resident files will now be electronic, and will link with existing systems including MediMap, which currently holds medication information for residents. The system will be able to be accessed by all clinical care staff, as well as allied health staff and GPs.
In April staff will start putting resident data online and, with the system due to go live in May, Enliven Quality Manager Raewyn Healey is excited about the potential the move has across a wide number of areas.
“It will set up work flows so it will tell staff what needs to be done and when, staff will be able to easily and quickly access a number of other files on the system, such as policies and procedures that might relate to a specific health care matter, and it will also really help with audit compliance,” she said.
“We have also purchased a wound care programme Pixalere and, who knows, in the future maybe it will link directly with InterRAI.”
“It will be a one stop shop, where everything talks to each other.”
“If a staff member inputs their observations into the system it will automatically link that to other places it needs to go. For instance if they note anything about wound care and need a referral, it will send the referral automatically and send all of the information to relevant staff.”
The new system is set to be hugely time efficient, meaning clinical staff will be able to spend less time on paperwork and more time on the needs of residents.
Senior staff have been undertaking training over recent weeks, and all clinical staff, including registered nurses, clinical managers, care workers, and allied health staff will receive training in the coming months.
Raewyn says the Procura system offers good value and support. The system could be altered to cater specifically for Enliven’s needs and specific reports would be easily accessible.
The system will be accessible on computers, as well as tablets and most smartphones.
