Exploring our Centenary book

By Walsh and Beck | Posted: Thursday August 29, 2019

Spanning 100 years from 1919 to 2019, our recently launched centenary book features stories and images which tell the history of Presbyterian Support Southland creating something that people could have to look back on. A lot of the families we support have been receiving support from PSS for a number of years and the book allows them to see their own family and community history, proudly displayed in print.

For Young and Old, 100 Years On takes us from the very first days of PSS right through to today, showcasing all the amazing work we have done together with the Southland community over the last 100 years.

Residents, staff and the community have all contributed photos to help us tell this story and we’ve been lucky enough to find some hidden gems within the PSS archives. With old letters, documents, newspaper clippings and written logs, we were able to bring together a truly remarkable history of Presbyterian Support Southland.

If you would like your own centenary book, you can order your copy on our website.

When asked about the Centenary book, co-author Jerrie Valli stated, “The book tells a story of change over 100 years, but what is heartening is what has stayed the same about the organisation – that it exists to care for people. It really reflects what is a very proud history; a history that has been shaped by the generosity of many people.”
