The hard work and effort of Family Works volunteers has been recognised with a Commendation at the Trustpower Invercargill/Southland Community Awards.
The input and impact of volunteers for Family Works clients and families cannot be understated.
The time, effort, commitment, dedication and passion they invest is immeasurable.
It was fitting that they were collectively recognised at the recent Trustpower Invercargill/Southland Community Awards.
Family Works volunteers including Foster Parents and Big Buddies were nominated for the invaluable contribution they make to children and young people.
Foster Parents were recognised for providing safe, nurturing care for children/young people who can’t stay with their family networks. Over the 12 months prior to the awards, Foster Parents with Family Works provided homes for 21 children/young people for varying lengths of time; many who had experienced some form of trauma.
Big Buddies were acknowledged for the time they spend with Little Buddies, as they assist to help the children and young people involved in the programme to become competent, effective, healthy adults.
Family Works volunteers received the Commendation in the Education and Child/Youth Development category.
The Trustpower Community Awards programme is about recognising and celebrating the tireless effort of volunteers throughout the country.
