Mr Tim Loan, Chairman of Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Prendergast as its new Chief Executive commencing on Monday 9 July.
John is a well-known Southlander who comes with extensive experience in philanthropy and strategic leadership. Currently holding Director or Trustee positions on local health, sporting, cultural or educational Boards, signifying his commitment to the local community and not-for-profit sector.
Most significantly, John has been the Chief Executive of the Community Trust of Southland (CTOS) for 20 years, where he resigned in 2017 having led the Trust through significant initiatives, distributing $7-10m in grants to the Southland community annually and assisting the Trust to hold $225 million in funds.
Prior to joining CTOS, John held senior management positions at Tranz Rail, Trust Bank Southland and PowerNet, and worked as a chartered accountant in the UK and NZ.
The Board believes that John has the right skills and experience to lead PSS in the coming years, through it’s centenary celebrations next year and beyond.
The Board wishes to acknowledge the long standing and significant contribution of Presbyterian Support Southland’s current Chief Executive Peter Wards. During his 23 years of service, Peter has led the organisation with true dedication, compassion and community focus; in particular, with improvements in the level of care across Enliven facilities, along with the growth of Family Works to provide a large number and range of services within the community. Peter will stay on in an advisory position until 31 October to assist with the transition.
PSS is a Charitable Trust that provides a range of health and social services in Southland through Enliven and Family Works.
